Ambulance Transport Use When Really Needed
Has anyone ever called an ambulance for you? Did you feel that you did not need the ambulance transport at that time? Did you feel that you could have been transported by private car or taxi? Did you feel you were not responsible for the bill? If you answered yes to any of these questions, read on.
When an ambulance is called for you by a family member or a complete stranger, you are the person that is responsible for the bill.
I worked in ambulance insurance billing for many years and this was the most fought question.
If you are suddenly taken ill or fall down and can’t get up and a friend or stranger calls an ambulance for you, you can refuse the transport. There will be a charge since the ambulance had been dispensed and the paramedics were already on the scene.
What people need to know is that an ambulance transport to the hospital is not free. As a matter of fact the transport cost varies during the twenty four hour day period. The cost is higher at night since the insurance costs for the ambulance is higher.
The ambulance transport usually takes the patient to the closest hospital. If the ambulance arrives at the hospital and they are waved away for numerous reasons, then the ambulance transport will continue on to another hospital.
An ambulance transport is extremely costly and medical insurance companies are very clever in finding ways to avoid paying this bill or making a partial payment.
If you do not have any medical insurance this bill will be over whelming for you to handle. Your ambulance bill is completely separate from the hospital bill.
If you need an ambulance by all means call one. 911 is an easy phone number to remember. An ambulance transport is there for you to save your life.

An ambulance may travel from the site of an accident or injury to a hospital, from a hospital to a patient's home, or between two points of treatment (such as between a doctor's surgery and a hospital with specialist facilities).
