How to Eat a Banana

One of the healthiest snacks you can eat, many fruits are high in sugars that can be detrimental to any diet. The fabulous banana, however, is high in potassium and low in sugars - but still delicious. But the banana sits there in its bright yellow peel, taunting you. The trouble is, how to eat a banana?

The banana is a delightful fruit that can be eaten in a variety of ways. Some people like to slice their bananas to put in their cereal. Others like to peel its yellow skin away to bite directly into its succulent goodness. The best part of eating a banana is, there is no standard or set rules for how to eat a banana. Elvis, in fact, liked them on sandwiches. And if anyone knows how to eat a banana, it's the King of all rock-n-roll.

Bananas truly are delicious when you eat them with peanut butter, either sliced on a sandwich (the Elvis special), or with peanut butter spread directly on the whole banana itself. Every bite an explosion of taste, there is no guideline to follow when it comes to how to eat a banana - though trying to have good table manners in front of company certainly does help.

If you've never experienced the taste of bananas and whipped cream, I can highly recommend it. In fact, all fruits are good with whipped cream - but something about the banana blends perfectly with that delightful treat. If you want to know how to eat a banana, the first rule is that there are no rules!

Indeed, bananas are good with everything. So try them in cereal, try them on a sandwich, try them for dessert - how to eat a banana is not as important as enjoying the banana you are eating. So bite right in, slice right off, put them in a blender to make a smoothie - the banana is no ordinary fruit. Just break off the top of the peel, strip that yellow covering away, and enjoy the sweet nectar of one of nature's most versatile fruits. You'll understand what "top banana" means then.

Definition:

Banana is the common name used for herbaceous, cultigenic plants of the genus Musa, and is also the name given to the fruit of these plants. They are native to the tropical region of Southeast Asia, the Malay Archipelago, and Australia. Today, they are cultivated throughout the tropics. Banana plants are of the family Musaceae. They are cultivated primarily for their fruit, and to a lesser extent for the production of fiber and as ornamental plants. Because of their size and structure, banana plants are often mistaken for trees. The main or upright growth is called a pseudostem, which for some species can obtain a height of up to 2–8 m, with leaves of up to 3.5 m in length. Each pseudostem produces a single bunch of bananas, before dying and being replaced by a new pseudostem.
